Coronavirus: Delhi High Court extends period of restricted functioning; adjourns matters listed befo

The present system of mentioning urgent matters before the designated Joint Registrar (Judicial) between 10:30 am to 12:00 pm will continue. To contain the spread of CONVID-19, the Delhi High Court has, in consultation with Delhi High Court Bar Association, decided to extend its period of restricted fucntioning till April 3. Coronavirus: Delhi HC adjourns pending matters listed before it from March 17-20; urgent matters to be mentioned before JR As per the decision, all matters listed on March 23, March 24, March 25, March 26, March 27, March 28, March 30, March 31, April 1 and April 3 now stand adjourned to April 20, April 21, April 22, April 23, April 24, April 24, april 27, April 28, April 29, April 30, respectively. The present system of mentioning urgent matters for hearing before the designated Joint Registrar (Judicial) between 10:30 am to 12:00 pm will continue. Matters listed upon mentioning will be heard by Benches notiifed for the day. It is further directed that only one Advocate per party is ermitted to appear and only one instructing Advocate can appear with a Senior Advocate. It is clarified that the filing counters are open and limitation will continue to run. In his appeal to the members of the Bar, Advocate Naginder Benipal, Member Executive-DHCBA said, "We are in a period of great concern and uncertainty. Each one of us has a vital role to play.. Let us follow the advisories and stay indoors unless and until it is really necessary to step out. Let us encourage all around us to follow the simple steps in order to stay safe." The High Court has also stated that since the functioning of the District Courts stands restricted, there is n requirement for the entire workforce to report in duty on a daily basis till March 31. It has also the District & Sessions Judge/In-charge of concerned Court Complexes to ensure that the court buildings are sanitized on a daily basis and are also vacated by 5 pm.
