Delhi News Live Updates Today, May 22, 2023: The defamation suit contends that BBC's documentary makes "defamatory imputation and casts slur on reputation of the country and judiciary and against the Prime Minister of India". Delhi News Live Updates (May 22): The Delhi High Court issued summons to BBC in a defamation suit claiming that its two part documentary ‘India: The Modi Question’ cast a slur on India’s reputation, as well as that of its judiciary and Prime Minister. The suit was filed by a Gujarat-based non-profit organisation named Justice on Trial. Senior Advocate Harish Salve appeared for the organisation. Meanwhile, a 28-year-old architect was arrested for allegedly running over a 26-year-old man with her BMW car in the early hours of Sunday, said police. The woman was heading home after a party in Greater Kailash when the accident took place near Moti Bagh Metro station, said police. The deceased, Ajay Gupta, ran a grocery shop and was returning home when he was mowed down, they added. In other news, with the temperature crossing 40 degrees Celsius in Delhi, and hitting 46 degrees in some parts on Sunday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast points to the possibility of heatwave conditions in isolated places on Monday. While the maximum temperature is likely to remain at around 43 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, slight respite is expected over the week ahead with light rain or thundershowers likely on May 24 and 25. The maximum temperature is expected to drop to around 36 degrees Celsius on May 25.
